Festus Akinbusoye declared his intention to seek Conservative Party's nomination as 2028 London Mayoral candidate on a strong pro-housing, and pro-business platform.
He was elected Westminster City Councillor for Abbey Road Ward in May 2026. He previously served as Bedfordshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner (2021–2024), National Lead for Crime Prevention for the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners, and Chair of the Eastern Region’s 7-Force policing collaboration and Special Operations Unit.
His career spans business, politics and media. In his early twenties, he founded a facilities management company with support from The Prince’s Trust, growing it to nearly 70 employees before the COVID-19 pandemic. He is also a regular media commentator on policing, politics and the built environment.
